Communications Coordinator

St. Mary Parish is seeking a warm, creative, and organized part-time Communications Coordinator to help share the life and ministry of our parish community. This role supports the mission of St. Mary’s by keeping parishioners informed, inspired, and connected through digital and print communications.


This position is perfect for someone who enjoys storytelling, has an eye for good design, and values the beauty of parish life. You’ll play an important role in bringing our community together each week—whether through the bulletin, social media, or a simple flyer that helps our ministries shine.



RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Create and publish the weekly parish bulletin, coordinating content, images, and announcements from parish staff and ministries.
  • Design and send the weekly email newsletter through Constant Contact.
  • Maintain the parish social media page (Facebook + Instagram) with timely, uplifting content.
  • Update the parish website through LPI’s web platform to keep information current and accurate.
  • Create simple graphics and promotional materials for parish and ministry events (flyers, social posts, etc.).
  • Attend the weekly staff meeting and collaborate with parish staff and volunteers to ensure consistent communication across all channels.
  • Support special projects and occasional promotional materials (e.g., banners, T-shirts, posters) as needed.
  • Minor website updates as needed (training will be provided)
  • Light support in data entry (2-3 hours/week)


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor’s degree required


Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of work in creative, communications or marketing fields

Portfolio of creative work required; must be able to demonstrate knowledge of graphic design best practices
 

Skills & Competencies

  • Basic to intermediate skills in Canva (or Adobe InDesign experience a plus)
  • Comfortable writing short, engaging copy and proofing announcements
  • Familiar with social media posting and scheduling
  • Strong organization and attention to detail—able to juggle multiple weekly tasks
  • Ability to work independently and meet regular deadlines
  • A positive, collaborative spirit and understanding of parish life preferred
  • Familiarity with Catholic faith, knowledge of typical parish life strongly preferred


Compensation

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour


SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • 12–18 hours per week, hybrid or fully remote (attendance at weekly staff meeting required) with the expectation of availability during normal business hours (8:00am–3:00PM CST)
  • Flexible scheduling outside of key weekly Monday deadlines (bulletin + email newsletter)
  • Commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church; ability to work collaboratively with parish and school leadership, staff, and volunteers.
