The First Saturdays Devotion at St. Mary's

[Jesus] wishes to establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world. I promise salvation to those who embrace it; and these souls will be beloved of God like flowers arranged by me to adorn His throne.”
(Second Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima – June 13, 1917)

Each month, our parish gathers to honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary through the Five First Saturdays Devotion, a beautiful practice rooted in Our Lady’s message at Fatima.

This devotion offers a simple yet powerful way to grow closer to Jesus by accompanying Mary in prayer, reparation, and love. Beginning this year, St. Mary’s has expanded the devotion to welcome all men, women, and children—and we invite you to come be part of it.

Join us each first saturday:

8:00 a.m. – Rosary

Led by the Women of St. Mary, in the Church

8:30 a.m. – Holy Mass

A daily Mass, celebrated in the Church

9:00 a.m. – Silent Meditation

Fifteen minutes of quiet reflection on the Mysteries of the Rosary

All are welcome to participate in any or all parts of the devotion. The church will remain open for prayer after Mass for those completing their meditation.

To take part fully in the devotion, please also plan to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation—available at St. Mary’s on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00–6:00 p.m.,  and do all of this with the heartfelt intention of making reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

About the Five First Saturday Devotions

Have you ever included this prayer in your recitation of the Holy Rosary?

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

Its origins are from an explicit request of the Blessed Virgin Mary in her apparition to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The Five First Saturdays Devotion was revealed by the Blessed Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. In this message, Our Lady asked the faithful to make reparation for the sins committed against her Immaculate Heart through prayer, Confession, and Holy Communion.

Our Lady promised special graces and assistance at the hour of death to those who faithfully complete the devotion on five consecutive first Saturdays with the intention of making reparation to her Immaculate Heart.

how to practice the devotion

On the First Saturday of five consecutive months, the devotion includes:

1 . Confession

Go to Confession within eight days before or after the First Saturday, with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

(Confessions at St. Mary’s are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00–6:00 p.m.)

2 . Recitation of the Rosary

Pray five decades of the Rosary with devotion and love.

3 . Holy Communion

Receive Holy Communion in the state of grace, offered at St. Mary’s First Saturday Mass at 8:30 a.m.

4 . Fifteen-Minute Meditation

Spend fifteen minutes reflecting silently on the Mysteries of the Rosary—either all of them or one in particular.

All of this is done with the heartfelt intention of making reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

why it matters

This devotion invites us to step away from the noise of daily life and draw closer to Jesus through His Mother. It’s a chance to renew our hearts, pray for peace, and offer love and reparation for the indifference that wounds Mary’s heart and the heart of her Son.

Whether you’re just beginning your devotion or continuing a long-held practice, we welcome you to join us for this monthly time of prayer and grace.
