Summer Reading and Math 2014

Summer Reading and Math

June 2, 2014

Dear Parents,

Summer information for school supplies, book orders, and summer packets has been posted on the home page of our school website at www.stmarymobile.org .

We are happy to announce that we have chosen to sell both pre-packaged school supplies and books for the 2014-2015 school year; orders will be delivered directly to you after you have placed your online order. School supplies can be ordered now, while the book store will open on July 1, 2014.

In addition, the students’ summer reading and math packets are posted on the school website.  I am pleased to tell you that we will be using IXL again this year to complete our summer math assignments. IXL is a comprehensive math review site with an unlimited number of math practice questions that address hundreds of math skills — all of which are aligned to state standards.  Students will be practicing math skills and concepts learned this past school year;  classroom teachers will be monitoring their progress throughout the summer. It is exciting to note that IXL has a handy, free application (app) that can be downloaded to be used on iPads and other devices.  Your child already has experience in using IXL in class and in the computer lab. Students will have fun practicing math at home, improve their technology skills, and it will give you a chance to see your child’s progress as well!

You can access IXL at www.IXL.com/stmarymobile/signin.    In order to log onto IXL, your child’s username will be the first letter of child’s first name and whole last name @stmarymobile.  An example would be  lthornton@stmarymobile.   Siblings have a number after their names and should know how to log on.  An example would be lthornton2@stmarymobile.  The password will be the first letter of first name and first letter of last name; an example would be lt (for Linda Thornton). Please note that during the school year parents or students may have changed that password on their own. If you cannot remember your password, you can call or email Mrs. Thornton to retrieve it.

If you have problems logging on to IXL, please email Linda Thornton, our technology teacher, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  She will be checking her email over the summer and will get back with you as soon as possible.

Summer information updates will be sent out through Constant Contact.  If you are not already signed up to receive Constant Contact, please go to the school website  (www.stmarymobile.org) and click on e-newsletter.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the school office. Have a wonderful, safe summer!

Sincerely,

Deborah D. Ollis
Principal
