Accelerated Reader Program
| • |
Gets students excited about books. Accelerated Reader helps students focus their attention on the careful reading of books, which improves students’ critical-thinking skills and builds an intrinsic love of reading. |
| • |
Helps every student master standards. AR helps students raise their scores on state tests and ensures a mastery of standards. |
| • |
Improves classroom management. Student participating in AR have higher attendance, fewer discipline problems, and improved attitudes about school. |
| • |
Keeps each student challenged. Using AR, we can continuously guide students to appropriate books and curriculum so that every student is challenged without being frustrated. |
Religion
All children attending St. Mary's are expected to participate in all aspects of our religious program. Non-Catholic students do not participate in receiving the sacraments. The children regularly attend Liturgy with their classmates and all classes participate in service projects for the parish and community.
Spanish
A full-time Spanish teacher provides students with an introduction to the Spanish language and culture. Students learn Spanish conversation, reading and writing basics, as well as customs and history of Latin American countries.
Physical Education
Our Physical Education program emphasizes personal development, team interaction, the importance of fitness and nutrition, and good sportsmanship. All students are required to dress out in the proper PE uniform. PE Uniforms may be purchased at Zoghby Uniforms.
